About the Instructor



As the Clicker Coach Positive Dog Training, Emily has offered group and private training in basic manners & obedience, agility and behavior issues in the Mt. Shasta area since 2002. She is a Mentor/Trainer for Animal Behavior College and has guest lectured at the College of the Siskiyous on Applied Learning Theory in animals. 

As the Behavior Program Coordinator of Siskiyou Humane Society in Mt. Shasta from 2005 to 2016, Emily was responsible for the emotional and behavioral health of the 700-800 cats and dogs that visit the shelter yearly. Through SHS, she provided behavior counseling to the public, humane education in schools and dog bite safety presentations.

In 2014, Emily completed the requirements and examination to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through The Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers®. She has attended many professional educational events in her continuing quest for excellence in dog training services, including Association of Pet Dog Trainer conferences in Portland, San Jose and Berkeley, seminars with Patricia McConnell and Steve White, Karen Pryor's ClickerExpo and numerous sporty online classes through Fenzi Dog Sports Academy.

A lifelong amateur naturalist and passionate fan of Citizen Science, her particular interests are in evolutionary biology, behavioral genetics and the comparative ethology of her two favorite species, cats and dogs.  She lives in Mt. Shasta with her Catahoula mix Tinker.
